There are some on eBay for £15 that might do the job so I emailed them all but none could tell me the the max width when open. They needs to be able to open the spring from a 60mm unstretched spring to about 100-120mm spring expanded. I bought some from a £store on a whim, long nose bent pliers., they only opened to 80mm which wasn't wide enough.

They only go to a max of 72mm I don't think their quite big enough. Last time I used a large g clamp and taped 2 nails to the end then opened the clamp up. Only problem was the spring was seriously strong so the tape kept coming loose
