Hi, we are looking to do a garage conversion but need a bit of advice on the floor. The current garage floor is a concrete slab which runs down at 15mm per metre. The issue is the highest point is only 74mm below the existing floor so I don't think there is enough height for insulation plus flooring. The garage is 2.5 metre by 5.5 metre.

My question is can I remove the concrete garage floor without compromising the structure of the house? The house is a typical new build, concrete slab then brick construction.

I won't be digging out any foundations, of course, but can't find any information to say the floor is good to be removed as I see fit.

Also waiting in a number of builders coming back to give me quotes, but no joy yet.

Thanks,

Mark
