Hi,

I have a new light fitting with 3 terminals - live/nuetral/earth. Basically where do I put the switch wire? In all other fittings I have installed there is a 4th terminal.

Cheers,

Laurence

The live terminal on the light fitting is for your switched live, any other live in there will make the light lit permanently.

If your lights are 3 plate (fed to the fitting, not the switch) then you'll need to add a terminal for the 'loop feed'

Newer installations the core colour will be different:
Red=Brown (live/line)
Black=Blue (neutral)
Black sleeved Red=Blue sleeved Red (switch live)
Green/Yellow=Ditto (CPC/Earth)

Some fittings supply a spare terminal for the looped in line/live, unfortunately some don't. So in that case the line/live will require a connector to terminate the cable together.
