Light recessed into wall

I'm interested in fitting a light into a false wall. Maybe a spot light.
It's an alcove.

Can anyone recommend something?

Don't want to spend lots of money,

but most importantly I don't want a fire risk

Surely if you recess a spotlight into a wall you'll have a narrow, horizontal beam of light illuminating a spot on the opposite wall?

I was going to angle it down a bit.

What would you recommend?

Its under a stair case (but with an open side)

Previous owners had a TV under there.
I just have a router.
