recessed ceiling light

Hi,
I want to replace a light fitting for a recessed light, can you tell me is it possible to but a recessed ceiling light that can be wired up using the existing wiring from the previous light or is this not how they work. Is it something i could do, not a sparky or should i get my electician friend to sort it.

In what room is this new light to be located?

Its on the landing on the 2nd floor of the house.

you would probably have to reconnect existing wiring into a new junction box and connect recessed light there.

Like everything. Its easy if you know how.

It depends on if your house has loop in, loop out (aka 3 plate wiring) or not.

If the above makes no sense then get your sparky friend to do it..
