I need to mix a really light mortar for a small section of brickwork.

I'm currently using 2.5 red sand 2.5 yellow sand and 1 part grey cement to match the current brickwork

To make this a few shades lighter can I use white cement instead of the standard grey or will that not make much difference

I've done a few tests with different sand but can't get it light enough

Thanks for any help!

Perfect thanks!

I'll do some tests with the white. Is it massively different to the grey when all mixed?

White cement will give a lighter finish than grey cement, but there are still lots of variables including the way the joint is finished.

Generally, the less red sand the more light grey the joint will be, but if you want it to be like the yellow sand and not grey then you're better off adding a bit of buff dye.
