Hi All

I would like to created a limed effect on some beech. Is it possible and how would I go about opening the grain? The interwebs suggests a wire brush, but wouldn't that be too harsh?

Thanks

Hmm, looks like wetting and scrubbing with a hard brush might be another option. Any thoughts?

Oak has always been the traditional wood ,with open grain to get the lime into ,why go against the grain

you could try the wire brush method as said by others or if that fails you could try using a checking roller and white paint its best to experiment on some practice boards
