Hey everyone,
We have a room which has been lined with 1400 grade lining paper. We intend to paint this white with dulux trade supermatt paint.

Should we just do two coats and sorted, or should we dilute a first coat? My mum said to dilute a coat and a Google search this morning through up conflicting advice..

Thoughts?!

Thanks :)

You can add a little water without problems - no more than 10% - but adding any more, such as with a mist coat for bare plaster, is unnecessary and could give you problems by bubbling/loosening the lining paper. Be aware that Supermatt is not a great product to use if the walls are likely to need cleaning because it cannot be washed or wiped down like vinyl emulsions can.

Thanks for the feedback, okay so a little watering down and we should be sorted, that's cool.

It's not a house full of children or anything so that shouldn't be a worry, it's good to know though! Thanks.

Ah well, I've already done it this weekend. We did water it down by 10 percent. Whether we needed to or not I don't really know. It'd worked out alright I think. Cheers
