My washing machine connects directly to a 2 inch pipe that carries the water to a sewer line. I want to somehow put a screen on the connection so that any lint is trapped and doesn't get clogged in the main sewer line. I haven't found anything that can be put at the washing machine and 2 inch pipe connection. I was thinking of putting a mesh screen between the connection but does the connection need to be sealed or can it just point down into the pipe? And, does anyone know of a product that can be put at the connection to trap lint?

Has your main soil pipe become clogged up with lint before? I don't know but I would have thought it just gets washed away like toilet paper.
