I'm hoping someone out there can help? I'm trying desperately to identify a black steel lintel used in my house (Circa. 1989) as I need to satisfy my Structural Eng.
I believe it's a BAT building product type as there's a similar one used in my garage. The profile is attached below:
Before anyone asks, I've emailed Catnic, IG, Keystone etc but no-one has replied with any positive news.
I'm holding out for Birtley Group as I believe they took control of Expamet (who in-turn took control of BAT).
It has a perforated underside with bricks to one face and blocks to the other (85mm side).
Any news or original loading info would be gretly appreciated!!

Phone them.
Companies have technical helplines so that's your best bet

I doubt you'll get anywhere identifying it, you're talking about 40 years ago. Besides digital copies of lintel specs didn't really exist back then, certainly not for Joe Public it was all physical manuals so that data will have all been lost to time. The guys manning the tech helplines won't have any time for looking for ye oldie manuals stored in the depths of their basements.

You might get a structural engineer to prove it's adequate if he's prepared to do some number crunching but seeing as you seem to be saying it's your SE asking that seems unlikely.

Catnic do one with a very similar profile and dimensions. Would the loading figures for that not satisfy your S.E.
