How can I tell what the lintels over my windows are made of. Just trying to put up curtain poles, and cant drill more than 1 inch. Would it be cement or metal, how can I tell? All I know is its solid !!
well if you want to be really sure try drilling into it with a masonry bit if you're still there half an hour later and the bit has melted it's probably steel...seriously though I would assume a pipe/cable detector would tell you if it's steel or not.
