Help please! I have recently bought a Victorian flat basement which has DPC in the walls. Bought engineered oak flooring for the living room floor but when pulling up the old floor, concrete was damp and uneven.
The wood flooring company painted the old concrete with PVA and then laid latex self levelling compound (universal setcrete ).
Their suggested next steps to repress the damp is;
1) Lay Liquid damp proof membrane two coats on top of the self levelling compound
2) Lay a plastic sheet over the liquid DPM ( surveyor suggested Oldroyd XS)
3) lay a fibreboard underlay
4) lay the engineered oak.
Will this be sufficient? What are the best liquid DPM around (have been recommended Vandex and Ardex )
Will the liquid DPM work over the latex self levelling or should that be cracked out and the Liquid Dpm applied to the uneven concrete?
