Little reservoir next to condensation outlet / Vaillant Boiler

Hi Guys

what is this little reservoir next to the condensation outlet on my vaillant boiler?

looks pretty browinsh i wonder if it needs a clean? Can it be removed easily? Dont wanna mess around too much ideally...

I found out investigating a leak due to a frozen condensation pipe. Have disconnected this and rerouted to a bucket inside the house till we get the big melt down...

It's the condensate trap. Probably does need cleaning but this should only be done by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer as it's part of the flue system
