Locking a gate from both sides

Built a gate for the driveway as it was much-needed. It's since been undercoated and had a further three coats of top coat. Only job left is to put the door furniture on.

It has to be locked by a drop bolt/surface bolt (the one pictured) -- it cannot be locked into the wall on the left of my picture as that's not my wall.

I cannot think of a way of locking the gate with the attached bolt. Thought of cutting out a section of the gate in order to access the padlock from both sides, but the bolt has to be turned 90degrees and pushed up which will be difficult to do if you're on the wrong side.

Anybody's brain better than mine and can come up with a solution?
