Hi,

I have 3 Centre-Pivot Velux windows on a flat roof. For insurance purposes I have to have them key lockable as they are easily accessible. The Velux "click shut" system doesn't seem to satisfy them.

Just looked at the Velux accessories page and they have a key lock for their Velux windows but at £30ish +vat they seem a bit on the pricey side. So looking at alternative ways to lock them.

My idea is to use a window swing lock (eg http://www.screwfix.com/prods/13950/Ironmongery/Window-Fittings/Window-Security/Window-Swing-Lock ) on each one - not as pretty as the velux option but at only £5 each much better on the pocket. I would fit it at the bottom part - so the window can still swing open.

Can anybody see any reason why this wouldn't work or has anybody got any other lock ideas for these types of windows.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.

Think I will stick with the swing lock - not such big holes to drill in plus they are cheaper. Also doubt if my wife would trust me with those patio locks after I ruined a sliding patio door putting one on - but that's another story

Oh no - not the glass. Carefully avoided that - did something much harder to do - managed to drill through the rolling mechanism.
