Hi there,
I'm looking for advice on how to best board a section of my loft in my new build house for light storage. I was considering loft stilts but then that would mean stepping over those horizontal truss braces all the time. Would it be acceptable to put batons up from the ceiling joists to strenghten the braces and then board over the top? The trusses are 70 x 35 and 600 between them. Or should i just use stilts and put up with having to step over the braces when i am up there? Thanks for any advice.

What size and length are the ceiling joists and what do you propose storing.

Think I'd be inclined to fit some vertical hangers down from each of the angled members onto the lower horizontal ties and then board over the ties, they're slightly unusual trusses, normally you don't have a tie there, guess it's a fairly sizeable roof. That'd be OK for the Xmas decks/empty suitcases or whatever and your weight moving stuff about etc.

The ceiling joists are roughly 2300 between the bottom of the trusses and 37 x 90. Not planning to store anything heavy up there, just some Xmas decorations old consoles and some camping stuff

Might want to put some noggins down the middle where you will be walking.

2400 x 600 18mm t&g osb would be good as long as you can get them up there.
