Hi there,

I'm planning to board my loft out, but cant decide whether to use the 8'x2' T&G boards I've seen at the sheds, or to cut an 8'x4' sheet down the middle. I can see why T&G has the advantage of locking together, but I also see that as a potential pain in the a**e if I ever want to lift a board in the middle of the flor say to get to a light fitting underneath, as i'll have to take all the boards up just to get to the one I need to remove.

If I were to cross batten the loft before I boarded the flor, I could make sure that two board edges would meet over a batten and thus be adequetely secured.

Or should I just be using T&G regardless? Thanks

8x4 sheet isnt flooring grade or waterproof so will turn to wheebix with damp

Use the purpose made loft boarding as it helps to 'self suport itself.'

Don't forget knee, face protection and gloves.
