Looking at making my own loft hatch which will be a square peice of 12 or 18mm ply using Touch latch from screwfix. However i would like the hatch to be flush with the ceiling with some architrave around the frame to make it look neat and tidy.

My problem is what hinges can i use so that the hatch opens downwards and the hinges are hidden from view..

Thanks

hinges only work with the knuckle showing as this is the pivot point
if the knuckle has material in front it will pivot to the side and jamb up before opening
kitchen cupboard hinges may be sutable but any moulding would have to be set back about either 9 or 18mm as these require clearence

although any cupboard hinge that opens more than 90 degrees may overcome this problem

not 'invisible', but a piano hinge the length of the hatch is what I used, and works well..
