could anyone pease tell me if my landlord , by law, has to insulate my loft as there is NO insulation in the attic what so ever. grateful for peoples replys.
I am pretty certain that your landlord has no legal obligations at all re. insulation, other than getting a HIP done for a new tenancy which would ( maybe) show up insulation problems.
If he/she said they would do so, if you signed a contract that's another matter but you would have to pursue it yourself.
Would probably be worth it to you to fit it yourself for comfort and heating-costs and see if the landlord would contribute if you did the (simple) work.
They are grants available so in absolute terms the cost would not be very large., but obviously don't know your circumstances.
if you are living in an uninsulated house then it is going to be awful in winter. I once had an old house, the bedroom lost 3kW of heat through the ceiling in frosty weather (a fan heater could not make it warm). Once I insulated the loft it instantly became comfortable, and cheap to heat.
I would say an uninsulated dwelling does not meet acceptable standards, but I do not know if it is legally enforcable. You landlord must be a real git.
no legal requirement at all ! However, i am sure the landlord would be happy if you organised some new insulation. There are loads of grants out there and if on benefits, its all free.
Do some research and make a proposal to the landlord. i am sure he would be all for it.
