Loft insulation - legs for storage floor

I’m looking at options to improve loft insulation.
Presently barely 50mm and collapsed / missing / patchy - needs improving.

I’ve been looking at the Screwfix Loft Legs in 175mm - they seem very sturdy.
Has anyone had experience with these - good or bad ?

These on top of my 4x2 joists (old bungalow) would give me about 275mm.
If I go for the recommended depth of insulation there’d be no air gap under the storage floor.
The insulation wouldn’t be compressed - but is no air gap good practice ?

My loft insulation was about 2-3” but the timbers were only about that height so I looked at loft legs. The spacing was also off for pre-made loft flooring.
I made roughly 12” high beams from cut OSB with 2x1 on each side and ran them at 90° to the originals, spacing them to allow the supports to line up with the newer floor dimensions. Ran modern insulation inside and used a brick bond on the floor panels.

An air gap in a first floor ceiling is unnecessary, loft legs are OK but don't really spread the load as effectively as fitting additional joists to increase the height. Also consider the 'loftzone' system.

BTW screwfix links don't link properly from this site as DIYnot has some weird link to them but are too incompetent to fix it.

I’ll have a look at those two options - the Loft Zone system Vs DIY timber stud joists at 90deg to originals.
The timber option is interesting because it might give me some options to manage the 200mm top layer away from my main run of wiring.
