Loft insulation

Hello - if anyone can give me advice please.

Loft insulation - whats best to get..? I am planning to lay insulation between the rafters and then board my loft.

I have seen the thick fibre stuff - but also a thin silver backed roll. Is the silver stuff any good.....as it looks like it would be easier to use/lay??

how deep and wide are the loft timbers

is the roof felted

how old is the house

is it already insulated

what do you want to use it for after boarding
