Loft insulation

Hi everyone
Ive more or less finished renovating my house now...but have decided to venture into the loft!Ive had assistance with laying some boards ect but Id really like to put some insulation across the eaves of the atticsomething cheap and that looks half descent as I want to turn it into a music/art room.Does it need to be fire retardant material? Lighting and electricity have just been installed.Please dont baffle me with scientific stuff as its really not my thing!!

is this a back handed way of saying you wish to convert the loft?

are you talking stairs, floor joists, roof windows, etc, etc?
