Hi all,

I’m working on the loft at the moment, removed the old laths on the ceiling as it’s dropping. I have been advised to replace the ceiling with 100mm celotex insulation boards with 50mm air gap as minimum.

However, the loft rooms already have quite a low ceiling height, I’d need to drop the ceiling even lower to have 150mm space for the board and gap, is there any other way to go about it?eg a thinner insulation board but sufficient enough for loft/roof insulation?less air gap?

Thanks in advance.

Assuming 100mm deep rafters then 50mm between and 50mm under would make a big difference.
