Hi everyone, this is my first post so go gentle.

I'm new to the more involved DIY tasks, not too unfamiliar as I work in the construction industry.

So I will probably be asking the same questions at work as well and getting some input form there.

Anyway I have bought a new property with the intention of renting it out soon enough (thus highest quality isn’t imperative) and there are a few bits I want to get sorted.

The first of which being that there isn’t a party wall in the loft between the two properties, I imagine that this is both a security issue and a fire issue.

Thus I was thinking about bricking up off the existing wall with a thermarite block. Its worth noting the wall is tiny as there is a loft conversion and a very small storage space above. Do I need to leave a gap at the top of the wall for the roof deflecting and fill it with a intumescent join?

Help much appreciated

Me personally would just build a stud wall line it with osb board and if you areworriedabout fire line it with fireline board.
