I have found out that the cavity wall insulation used in my property before I bought it is classed as Category E fire rating.
I want to fit a log burning stove in my living room but I believe I need to use stuff called Vermiculite due to the fire rating mentioned above.
Does this seem correct? I haven't seen a good word about Vermiculite when reading about it online!

Don't know what Class E is, but if it's flammable then yes some kind of heat shielding will be required or you'll get a fire where you don't want one. Depending on exact construction, the whole fireplace may need to be ripped out and rebuilt. It needs to be able to withstand a soot fire burning at 1000°C for 30 minutes. Even Thermalite blocks are not considered to be sufficiently resistant for a solid fuel fireplace.
