Log periodic aerial elements length

Something to consider...
Or make a few on here snigger lol.

I fired up my HF transciever this weekend, picked up a lot of European stations as if they were in the room with me.
Now for an aerial I only have about 14' of wire strung along one of the joists going the length of attic room I'm in.
Anyhoo I thought I'd try and tune it in and see if anyone can hear me.

Well tuning it in was not very good, and no one could hear me, I did however manage to send my youngest's PC into a tizzy
and he came up with a USB interface that stopped working, a reset soo sorted everything and I unplugged my microphone and put it away again - back to listening only.

Then it hit me.
My roof has 50mm Kingspan insulation with silver foil both sides.
No wonder reception and transmission are poor up here lol.
So make sure you have not got kingspan in the rafters :)

Re the aerial, looks like a multiband one, ISTR they have different length elements etc.
The best way to test it is to connect it and see how it works, if it does then test complete.

Aerial project complete!

I wasn't happy with the Raptor elements layout so returned it for refund and got a Blake log periodic @ TS.

Now installed using the signal finder I invested in, I get about 75% signal strength and 100% signal quality according to the TV and all channels I've tried are flicker free. My aunt has a tri boom aerial installed in her bungalow attic and gets about the same signal strength/quality.

When using the signal finder, I kept turning the adjuster down till I got a very slight tone in a very narrow angle and set the aerial in the middle of that. The signal finder just needs a fly lead and its 9v power cable attached to work.
