what suggestions are there for a long pipe run to a kitchen tap.
We want to avoid a cold leg (or whatever you call it) but tank is at opposite end of house to kitchen tap.

If we take feed from hot pipe 5 m away from tap can we use microbore to avoid too much hot water left in the run. Hot will be mains pressure coming from vented mains pressure cylinder.

What options do we have and is 5 -7 m run after branching off consider long?

Thanks in advance

I would have thought 5m is a pretty average run from the hot tank.

Microbore verses 15mm is hadly any difference unless the pipe is expsed.
If the pipe is hidden - insulating with foam is better than using microbore.

Don't know if there is a pressure issue with microbore ? esp 8mm ?

Distance between tank and tap is 12 m but distance between tap and hot pipe it could branch off is 5 m.

Have you considered a secondary HW circulation loop? You take a connection from near to the tap and use a bronze pump to return hot water back to the cylinder, in this way the distance/velocity lag is reduced to almost nil, though the pumps are expensive and you'll need to insulate the whole run (good practice) and use a timer to avoid "wasting" energy.

I didn't think you could use a pump on a unvented cylinder

good point, but unvented c/h is common ...depends on pressure, perhaps. Have to look @ grunfos site.....
