Does anyone know where I might get a piece of 'curly' (telephone handset style) cord?

I need something with 6 cores, about 2.5 Metres long (extended), carrying 18 volt signals only (a few miliamps, probably 20 mA max.), ideally white or ivory outer sheath.

It is to replace a damaged 'remote control' lead on a reclining chair of unknown manufacture.

Try having a look at alarm retailers, or ask on the alarms forum.

AFAIK, a similar lead is used to connect seizmic detectors on safes etc.

I've had a look in my RS book, and can't see anyting in there

.............Handset cords will mostly only have 4 cores though.......

That's the problem. IIRC back in the '70s some phones used a special 6 way handset cord, but I haven't seen one since.

The likes of RS list a 15 core keyboard cable, but that's a bit short (and a bit OTT)

Is it a stupid question to ask if you have contacted the manufacturer?

Google finds a manufacturer of such cable in China - why not contact them and see if they can tell you of any UK customers of theirs?

Well spotted by PW!
