Solutions for this cavity against the wall below door frame. Looks like previous had new flooring installed. The threshold going outside is fine.

is there any signs off damp or discolouration assuming its wood??
 
as it may get well bashed and possibly dirty i would go for upvc trim as well as its hard wearing and wipe clean maybe chamfered or round nose if less than 10mm step under door frame
