Loss of lighting

if it's a ceiling rose, unscrew the cover and check between the switched live ( number 2 on the drawing below ) and earth at the terminals.. ( with the switch on and power on )
if you get 230V ( ish ) then the switch works ok.. the fault lies elsewhere..
if you don't get 230V ( ish ) then the switch is knackered.. time for a new one..

Might you have pulled in the lamp pendant cord flex when changing the bulb ? Unscrew the rose and make sure the cord is still terminated on the neutral and s/live terminals.

Did you check ?

Is there a ceiling rose wired as loop in / out and have you checked for live there ?

Have you discon the switch and joined the live / switch live together (having isolated at cu 1st!) with a terminal block ?

What further testing have you tried ?

Have you looked at the lighting diagrams in the DIYnot wiki ?
