My neighbour offered to water the greenhouse while I was away. When I got back I found the outside tap gushing - it had been left 'live' attached to a hose but the fitting had blown. I specifically asked him to turn off at the tap when he was leaving each day. He admits that it could possibly have been gushing for two days (no way of knowing when the fitting blew, of course, so just a pessimistic estimate.) He's offered to make a contribution to my next bill, but I've no way of estimating how much it has cost me. Can anyone here make a rough guess? We get on well and I shan't take any money as it's just an honest mistake, but we're both curious to know the implications.
