Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for some advice on a Mire elite 2 electric shower with very low water pressure without the low flow light being on. Its draws a 240v/9.8kw 230v/9kw load. I measured the supply when the unit is switched off and its 240v, when the unit is running its 225v. Its fed with 10sq with the necessary 45amp supply fuse and 30mA RCD, isolating pull chord etc..... As far as I'm concerned everything is correct, just no pressure. Is it not getting enough power? Would love to hear what ye think and I look forward to answering any questions if I've forgot to supply any other information. Thanks

Amateur..... Dave!

Likely to be low eater pressure causing the problem, sort of covers the reason the light "low pressure" is on.

Check that all water valves and the main stop cock are fully open.

Then get a bucket and measure the time it takes mains water to fill to say 15 litres. Once done you can then calculate the litre per minute flow rate and then compare that to makers spec (or post on the plumbing forum).

The low pressure light is OFF even though the pressure is really bad. Shouldnt the shower be creating its own pressure? Which is why I think its a question of power.

the shower will only give the pressure that the mains water supply will give it don't create it's own.

if you haven't got a low pressure light, or the shower is running constantly hot then their isn't a fault on the shower.

But its not fed from the mains, its a gravity fed cold water supply which is fine. The Mira elite 2 has a built in pump specifically to boost the water pressure. Its the load its pulling Im wondering about, 240v when its OFF, 225v when its ON. Does it need more power? Thanks for the replies though guys

Unless your cable is 83m long then you should not be seeing a 15v drop.

Do you notice lights dimming when you turn the shower on?

Have you checked every connection between the CU and the shower for tightness and any signs of overheating?

Hello there! Yes the lights are dimming slightly when the shower comes on. Its about 15m form the supply so I know there shouldnt be that much of a volt drop. Checked all the connections, its really frustrating.

Have you also checked the connections on the main switch on the CU?

(carefully, as the incoming ones will always be live).

If the shower runs without any sign of distress, leave it running for a while and see if your supply cut-out gets warm.

Right so checked all the connections and they seem fine. You'll have to forgive my ignorance but whats the supply cut off? 240v going to the shower and 223v/225v when its running.

Is the hose or handset sprayplate blocked?

Is the incoming water supply isolating valve turned down?

Heater tank could be excessivly scaled, are you in a hard water area?

Any of those could affect the pressure of the water being delivered.

None of them could make the voltage drop by 15v and the lights go dim when the shower is turned on.
