I want to carry out remedial work on a fully pumped heating and hot water system where the cylinder at the top of the house (3rd floor) has no existing cable linkage with the boiler in the basement.

The boiler is a Baxi Bahama (although a combi, it also heats the hot water cylinder as if a system boiler). The 2 motorised valves are Honeywell 2 ports and are currently wired up without micro switch function. The HW zone valve is currently next to cylinder but could be moved to boiler area.

The customer does not want the disruption and expense of running a new cable through 3 floors. One option would be to run cable(s) externally, although it would be simpler if ELV (e.g. 24 volts?) could be used so that bell wire or similar could be run either externally or internally. But how can this be integrated into S plan type control system?

look at honeywell smartfit i think you can use bellwire avoid the programmer like the plague nightmare to oap/chavs/peasants to understand how the clock is the roomstat, used them around 5 years ago lots of teething probs with m/v and actuator head

Thanks for that, bripl. I had a quick look and it looks promising. The only problem is that it appears to require that the programmer and motorised valves, or at least the actuators, are also low voltage. The whole thing then becomes rather pricey (£150+?). I was hoping that a low voltage cylinder stat and long cable might be linked to the existing components. Any ideas anyone?

the junction box is a pcb, with plug ins i would of thought you could buy the componets and "adapt" to suit the application as required  using a suitable qaulified person of course

I'll email Honeywell. Another, even better option would be to have radio frequency linkage from cyl stat to base station, as is available for room stats. Does such a thing exist?

chris this is your lucky night go to danfoss i do believe the tp9 cly stat is rf

No, the TP9 is a programmable room stat. It has a remote RF room stat sensor. Thanks anyway. I might as well email Danfoss too.

Found it. It's called CET B-RF. It looks exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks a million (as the Irish are fond of saying?) for your help, bripl.

Why, do you want to sell it?

PS. Did you fall asleep on the "submit" button?
