Looking for a smarter way to manage your heating this winter? We’ve been testing the new Aqara Radiator Thermostat W600 to see how quiet, accurate and easy it is to use around the home. Click here read our review.
Just an update to my problem, the gas was off for a few hours yesterday and when back on the boiler fired up but now the temperature of the display only hits 32oC despite being on overnight.
I'm starting to lose hope regarding the problem, the only other way I can think of testing the boiler is to remove it from the whole circuit and plumb it into the closest radiator so I'd know then whether it is the boiler or existing pipework
Thanks for the post, the pump I have fitted is a Grundfos 15-60, could it have been as simple as that?? The original was the same as it happens.
I've got predominantly copper pipework, all either 15mm or 22mm, there is some plastic pipework leading to a couple of radiators that were replaced (prior to me moving into the property), I'm not sure if this is barrier or non barrier.
Thanks for the pointers, I was wondering when I had the power flushing machine attached the flow in both directions appeared to be pretty good which to me indicated that there was no blockage in that part of the system.
Would I be right in saying that if I remove the pump and open the pump valve closest to the boiler if the heat exchanger was sludged up there would be little flow through the valve? How does the boiler know there is limited flow through the heat exchanger, is it purely down to the temperatures recorded by the thermistors?
The boiler fires on full for about 10 seconds before going to minimum. Is this controlled by an additional thermostat somewhere?
Thanks for all the advice, think we might have it sorted although there are a couple of problems still. One question I have is whether having 15mm non barrier pipe leading from copper 22mm will affect the boiler at all?
