M8 x1.5mm bolt needed... #$@&%*!

some of this brassware (doorknobs, knockers, handles etc) comes from India. It's possible they are using old machinery to turn out old patterns.

like Enfield motorcycles.

Here’s my nob shaft:

I reckon it’s 20 per inch :(

I can find a BSW rod but no Dome nut.

How likely is it that a UNC rod will fit a BSW knob. Or that a UNC dome nut fitting a BSW rod?

I read online that it is pretty likely, save some loss in strength.

Which way round would be better:
- BSW door knob > BSW rod > UNC dome nut
- BSW door knob > UNC rod > UNC dome nut

Thanks.

It is possible that the BSW thread will mate with that diameter UNC but you wont be able to screw them together by hand.....the resistance will be pronounced, even at that small diameter.
If you have a vice or molegrips or whatever then you are in with a chance.
Id try to fit the UNC rod into the knob first and then leave it be - the dome nut should be easy enough once the cut length is done.
John :)
