Macerator - only works if I kick it!

Did you ever fix this, mine does exactly the same

Do I just keep kicking it until i smash a hole in the side of it and then it manually empties on the floor?

sorry not very constructive, but I dont know of anyone who bothers to repair them, just change it

Corgiman - if I were to remove a macerator, how would I then cap the waste outlet? Is it just a case of 1) remove toilet, 2) disconnect power 3) remove macerator 4) cap waste pipe?
