Builder & Carpenter in the process of fitting 10ft oak bifold doors from Magnet - say they should be self supporting but are now saying that they will neet to bolt the frame through to steel above (although the instructions do not state this) they will have to infill with wood between the top of the door frame to the steel and bolt through all.

Has anyone else experienced a problem like this... the carpenter says he cannot align the doors unless they do this as the centre is "bowing".

Realise I am not doing this myself but need advice please.

Can't see a problem with screwing it up to the lintel to be fair, so long as the gap is packed so you don't bow the frame up

That is the problem with top hung doors you should always try to use a bottom running system. A decent product will have the choice of top or bottom running and have the running wheels operating in the sides or high in the track to prevent debris from fouling.

You may find with a top hung door any future deflection will cause massive problems with the product.
