I just thought that I would tell you about our success.

We sent our measurements to a firm who were going to cut out the acrylic and apply the magnetic strip.

Instead, because the chap on the phone did not want to supply us with the 12.5mm strip combined on the same pane with 20mm strip and said that we should not rest the acrylic on the window sills, we decided to go it alone.

We used a lot of the old acrylic that we had from the other secondary glazing that we fitted years ago with the plastic strips. The remainder we ordered on line precut to our sizes. They supplied it accurate to a millimetre and cheaper than B&Q. We also bought the 12.5mm magnetic strip and steel strip on line for £40 for 30m.

We have much thinner acrylic than the company were going to provide. the advantae is that it can follow the unevenness of our old windows. The company were going to provide magentic strip to fix to the frames. This means that there was no flexibility in the positioning. The stainless steel on the frames is almost invisible when painted.

The major advantage was price, though. We saved ourselves £1000 for a 4 bed house.
