Mrs Boilerman2 wants a Magnolia Tree in our Front Garden does anyone have any advice on how much clearance should be left from buildings/Boundaries etc I'm thinking of the Roots and don't want to putr the Mag in a poor location
Have you considered getting a grandiflora?
There's a "Little Gem" dwarf (max 14 ft high) variety that has a small root spread if you've not much room.
These magnolias have nice shiny evergreen leaves and big flowers.
I planted one a couple of years back and it may be a quite a few years before you get a decent size flowering tree, unless you spend more money and get a mature one in.
I think these are an American variety and they are much rarer and therefore much more expensive than the standard magnoilas in your DIY stores.
It might be worth the investment, as long as you're not planning on moving house
