Not wishing to be over dramatic, but I would suggest not using the shower until you can get a sparks out to check it asap.

if you have mcbs probably very near the maximun load or maby even above. Or could be the mcb getting abit old and just need replacing, what KW is your shower? and what make of consumer unit?

fizzing noise?

loose connection.

stop using it until its fixed

the consumer unit is a wylex one with 8 sections.

within these sections I have a cooker switch (not trip) old brown switch

I have a shower trip switch 45amp

i have a two trip switches for sockets at 32 amp up stairs and down and two trip switches for lights at 6amp for up staires and down. this leaves two spare places not being used.

on the wylex box it says do not excedd 100 amps ???

we had this fitted by an elecy 2 years ago ????

please advise

thanks

Is the case of your fuse box brown or cream coloured?

Where in relation to the main switch is your shower MCB?
(ie number of fuses / MCBs between the shower one and the main switch)

The fuse box is cream in colour

the main switch I take it is the one that will turn off all electric.

this is on the right hand side of the box.

to the left is the old dark brown cooker switch, then the shower trip switch (green) the there is the socket trip switch (32) the lights (6amp) then another light (6amp) the another socket (32amp) then two spares

hope this helps

thanks

then the shower trip switch (green)

Is there an actual on off type switch on the front of this device?

Normally a 45A MCB is orange.

Proteus used to make a wylex compatible 45A rewireable fuse carrier which was green in colour

I'm assuming this is a wylex standard 30A BS3036 fuse (the domino type) in way 1 of the fuse box

it is a green Proteus trip switch next to the dark brown cooker switch in the cream wylex cu
