Bit of an odd one.

Last year we moved into the house and the owners father who lived with them had passed away suddenly. She asked if she could leave the garage as it was as she couldn't face clearing it out. We said that was fine. Most of the items in there were gas fitting related (tools, copper pipes etc) and all brand new and still in wrapping etc and we've been selling it off/giving it away slowly. However, we came across a HUGE box of these very large, thick heavy pipes. There are 10 in total. Does anybody know if they're worth selling? A friend said they aren't worth selling as they are specialized and only the council use them for fitting gas under the roads/pavements and they'd get them from suppliers not on E-bay... But this friend is wrong quite often and likes to BS alot lol

We THINK we came across them online but we're not sure. Here is the link .

Are they worth selling or scrapping?

It's called a 2 part service valve - and it is for mains gas. Wouldn't be for the council though, more for the transporters fitters.

Doubt you would get a customer for them as they are very specific and would usually be supplied by the transporter per job. They're not worth anything as scrap as they're just malleable iron.

When I was younger, my friends grandad worked for a proper old school civil engineering company - his garage was full to the rafters with valves, pumps, pipes and all manner of exciting looking stuff that was clearly of no use or value to him but was probably worth thousands in "retail" value. I think in those days it was the law that you had to nick stuff from work.

Must admit we've come across a lot of stuff which looks nicked lol! We found a box that had "property of Somerset county council" on!
