Mains off alarm

Is there any product you can get and plug inline to an appliance perhaps that would sound an alarm if the mains goes off - thinking mainly of the fridge / freezer?

Or thinking about it - what about a UPS ?

I think they all bleep when the power goes - and as a bonus would give power for a while in the outage.

I'm not sure how they'd like being connected to a fridge/freezer though as the startup currents will be large - I'm sure someone on here will be able to give more info on suitabe ratings.

I wouldnt use a UPS. Cheap ones give a modified sine wave, which I doubt a compressor would like much. And I know our fridge freezer has a brief start up current of around 30 amps - this would probably damage a UPS.

Useful as a warning about the freezer and will give light to help sort out the problem.
