Been asked to put some mains voltage garden lights in.
Owner not interested in low voltage, 'can't be doing with transformers'

I have always used ELV as is safe to terminate in smaller fittings.

How would you get SWA into these lamps?

I presumed it is not advisable to have flex going to mains voltage lights, If you did, what flex would you use and how would you terminate?

Apparently these come with rubber flex attached

How would you attach a suitable cable to this

Thanks

Depends where the lights are going to be. SWA to a suitably IP rated joint box, then a bit of flex from the box to the light ... .IF you can mount the joint box somewhere and IF the flex is going to be visible/protected against gardening tools.

well its the flex to the light that bothers me.

Realistically how could that be protected?

It would have to be loose on the soil

would not want to bury flex

Is mains rubber flex Ok just loose to the light?

I don't like it, but then I'm a worrier :(

But if they sell 230v lamps with flex.....

As I'm sure you realise, neither lying on soil nor buried (unless in acceptable conduit) are accepable. Are these lights at ground level? You're probably going to have to think of a way of protecting the flex in sturdy (garden-tool-proof) conduit of some sort.

Kind Regards, John.
