So last year thames water dug up the whole road and fitted water meters, when doing so would they have replaced all the lead communication pipes? the stopcock is very close to the boundary so it would be an easy connection

I have heard they usually replace it with mdpe connectors at both ends anyone who knows their stuff, advice would be appreciated

Lead comms pipes to what?
Each property?
No.
They may have cut a bit back and coupled it to a stub of mdpe to the metered stopcock.
And, from experience of being called out to investigate leaks after such work by them, at least some of them will have been left loose and leaking underground.
