Making a chamfer

M

marsaday

I am renewing a section of my facia and have cut a piece of wood 230mm wide and 30mm thick. It is 1m in length

30mm from the bottom the wood is cut so it goes inwards by 15mm at the bottom. I think this is called a shampher.

Does anyone know how i can do it?

i am struggling and i may juts take it to a joinery workshop. If i do how much do you think they will charge me?

I think you are referring to a chamfer, which is basically a bevelled edge usually at 45 degrees.

It is really easy to do with a circular saw set to cut at 45deg. Mark your line parallel to and the desired amount in from the edge and run the saw along.

Done.

If it's only a metre long it would be quicker to plane it by hand than to set up a saw.
