To be honest, in today's world, a non white can say anything racist to white people without fearing any consequences.
White people instead, must be very careful in everything they say.
I hear race card being played every day in situations where race has nothing to do with anything.
Yesterday for example, Asian woman tried to jump queue because she only had 2 items.
White woman told her that she needed to respect the queue.
Race card was played immediately but white woman just laughed in her face and pushed past her.
Asian woman kept on complaining that she'd been racially abused.
Even Asian staff told her to shut up and go at the back of the queue.
It's become a weapon because minorities think whites step back when accused of racism.

Not obsessed, but surely I've never heard a white person claiming racism for jumping a queue and I don't think it's common practice.

Honestly, in my day to day life it's not something I see happening. And yes I know it happens, both ways.

But you find it acceptable to refer to skin colour as "a thing"

If you just accepted people as people, and like and dislike accordingly, and not by colour or race, then the race accusations would go away.

And some people are protestant and some are Catholic. Some are atheists and some are religionists. Some are Ba'athist are some are Shia. Some have red hair. Some are men. Some are young. Some are French. Some are Arab.
