Mast Head Amp problems...??

Just got my mast head amp (Philex SLx 27830R) and PSU (Philex SLx 27832R), but when I power it up with the aerial down lead connected the LED on the PSU goes out. With the down lead disconnected the PSU comes on again. On the Amp I have the aerial connected to the IN side, surely this is correct? Or could it be something to do with the 80m cable run??

First thing to try: What happens if you disconnect the downlead at the amplifier end?

More likely a cable/connector fault dragging the supply down, possibly because of a stray stand of copper. Meter between screen and the inner core and see what sort of resistance you get.

The norm is to have the antenna connected to the 'in' side as you describe.

Its ok sussed it now! There was a couple strands of the braid shorting in the amp. Thanks anyway!
