Matt over silk on artex

I have artex ceilings (horrible I know) in my hallway which are currently coated in silk emulsion, I want rid of the silk and get a nice matt finish.

Question is how? I was under the impression that matt over silk was a no no or not possible, is this correct? If so is there a sealant I can put on to the silk prior to the matt finish?

Assuming the silk is not gloss, then, buy Leyland Vinyl Matt in Brilliant White to go over the silk emulsioned artex (provided the cieling is already white). But i warn you NOT to use cheap alternatives, like Retail Matt Emulsions etc.......to go over the silk emulsioned cieling. The problems a matt paint can have over silk paint is 99.99% of the time when coated over a TOTALLY flat surface.
