I'm having a new kitchen install and use 40mm a Mcalpine trap with a small 40mm pipe run ending in a compression elbow going to the waste pipe.

Do you use solvent weld or push fit pipe that connects to the compression part of the trap?

It probably doesn't matter but what would you do?

Solvent weld is most professional‘s preference, but no harm in using push fit either. The McAlpine trap will take either too.
