MDF in the bathroom

Hello, I've built a MDF box to house a boiler and cistern in the bathroom. I'm going to wallpaper it and put some skirting board around the bottom. Do I need to treat it in any way to prevent moisture problems? I was thinking maybe paint the parts which touch the floor with PVA?

You need to waterproof the entire box to prevent moisture swelling it.

When PVA gets wet it gets tacky again.

Cool thanks for the advice, is there a recommended product for sealing MDF against moisture?

Got any old varnish laying around that would do, then size before papering.
